Target Oekaki

Inspired by Spoon’s ‘Don’t Make Me a Target’. Trying a ‘loose’ approach to the target and the shapes, maybe less ‘clean’ than usual. This means I’ll probably finish realtively quickly, because when I try to make things clean, it takes exponentially longer to finish…

Maybe I’ll get rid of the heart in the middle… I can’t get the shape right even with references, and I’m not sure how to color the heart so that it stands out from the red already present in the target rings….

I love this band so much it was inevitable I’d draw something inspired from one of their fantastic albums…

Daily Post: Quotes

I read this post on The Daily Post: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2012/01/24/creative-manifestos/ Where do you find inspirational words? Better yet, what’s your favorite quote that you’ve written yourself?

I find the most inspirational words in poems or more likely song lyrics I come across. I read them and sometimes I pick up on themes or feelings and it helps me draw or write. Sometimes they make me just laugh.

Here are a few of many the favorites I can remember:

Modest Mouse, ‘Custom Concern: ‘Message read on the bathroom wall
Says, “I don’t feel at all like I fall.”
And we’re losing all touch, losing all touch
Building a desert

Modest Mouse, ‘A Life of Arctic Sounds’: ‘As long as your gone,
I can’t apologize
for all the things that I haven’t said and done

Modest Mouse, ‘Baby Blue Sedan’: ‘And it’s hard to be a human being, And it’s harder as anything else, And I’m lonesome when you’re around,And I’m never lonesome when I’m by myself, And I miss you when you’re around.

Cage the Elephant, Around My Head: ‘I don’t think it’s very nice
To walk around my head all night
You got me tangled like a bread-tie twisted
I don’t think it’s fair…

William Blake’s ‘Auguries of Innocence’: ‘To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

I actually find most of the tidbits of the Auguries of Innocence pretty inspirational. I also love his poem ‘The Poisen Tree’.

Spoon, ‘Jonathan Fisk’: ‘It’s such a long way home,
It’s how the story goes.
And it’s like atom bombs and blunt razors, Atom bombs and blunt razors

Ho Chi Minh: ‘When the prison doors are opened, the real dragon will fly out.

William Shakespeare: ‘Hell is empty and the devils are all here.

Firefly’s Wash: ‘Curse you and your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

I don’t really make any inspirational quotes. The stuff I say is usually when I have a good conversation going with a friend and it’s all situational humor. I but I did promise a friend we’d get “I see stupid people” on a shirt. I’m pretty sure I’m not the first to say that however.

A Better Place to Fall

Video

Yay for Modest Mouse’s Bukwoski.

Well see what you wanna see. You should see it all.
Well take what you want from me. You deserve it all.
Nine times out of ten our hearts just get dissolved.
Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall.

But one time out of ten, everything is perfect for us all.
Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall.
Here we go!

You can't like this song as much as I do.

OneRepublic’s Marching on.

For those days we felt like a mistake,
Those times when love’s what you hate.

Somehow,
We keep marching on.

For those nights that i couldn’t be there,
I’ve made it harder to know that you know
,
That somehow,
We’ll keep moving on.

There’s so many wars we fought,
There’s so many things we’re not.
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We’re marching on.
We’re marching on.

For all of the plans we made,
There isn’t a flag I’d wave.
Don’t care where we’ve been,
I’d sink us to swim.

We’re marching on.
We’re marching on.

For those doubts that swirl all around us,
For those lives that tear at the seams.

We know,
Were not what we’ve seen.

Oh,
For this dance we move with each other,
There ain’t no other step.
Than one foot,
Right in front of the other.
Oh,

There’s so many wars we fought,
There’s so many things we’re not.
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We’re marching on.
We’re marching on.

For all of the plans we made,
There isn’t a flag I’d wave.
Don’t care where we’ve been,

I’d sink us to swim.
We’re marching on.
We’re marching on.

Right Right Right Right Left
Right Right Right Right Left
Right Right Right Marchin On

We’ll have the days we break,
And we’ll have the scars to prove it.

We’ll have the bomb that we saved,
And we’ll have the heart,
Not to lose it.

For all of the times we fought,
For all of the things I’m not.

Oh!
You put one foot in front of the other,
We go where we go we’re marchin on.
Marchin on.

Theres so many wars we fought,
Theres so many things we’re not.
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We’re marchin on.
We’re marchin on.

Right Right Right Right Left
Right Right Right Right Left

Marchin On.
Marchin on.

Rogue Out.
