I am planning to tweak it further and add in more blues and splatters for the background. I didn’t mix most of the pigments; I used a set of watercolor paints I obtained from a long time ago and each tube is already some manufactured shade (…at one point in my life I’d like to try my hand at using the traditional watercolor pigments like burnt umber and vermilion…) It was a fun experiment and a nice diversion from the usual art I do.
I’ve been pretty busy lately, so all I have from the past month is a a 15 minute or so sketchy doodle of some kind of dragon/serpent thing. I contemplated calling it a naga, but it has wings, so it’s probably just some nameless wierd thing.
More work from my new sketchbook; I’m kind of out of practice on doodling randomness. Not exactly sure if it’s surreal enough for what I had in mind, but I wanted to finish it. I disregarded making everything even after about two minutes, so it’s pretty obvious where I just marked up the thing quickly and without advanced planning.
The other day I went to the store and got some nice deals on Strathmore sketchbooks. I decided to try them out with a nice mechanical pencil sketch. I scanned it and darkened the pencil and fixed some stray marks in Photoshop.
A little skull head monster with a broken horn and a bit of fur was all I could come up with. Basically he has fused bone plates for a face and eats souls for fun.
Scan of a pencil and pen sketch of my character Adena from the myth story I posted ages ago: fav.me/d5hm304 I’m still trying to practice drawing people for some reason :)
At first I was trying to render her face very carefully but then my hand slipped, so it became a sort of sketchy outline of the character instead of something nice and smooth.
I figure this is a take on her after she’s destroyed Scrag the ice dragon ( fav.me/d5hm5tj ) and had a few more adventures that have turned her into a true warrior. She’s still got a nice fuffy wolf pelt cloak which was fun to scribble the outline of. I added a shield because I figure it’d be handy to have as a fighter and most of the other characters in my head don’t have one, so here was my chance.
Lineart done with plain ol’ mechanical pencil and then ballpoint pen.
